Desert Schools Credit Union
One of the top credit unions in Arizona is the Desert schools credit union. Membership has recently reached 350,000 members. It’s a Credit Union that offers personalized service when compared to banks. Whereas shareholders own banks, the depositors own a credit union. It’s time for a closer look.
In January of 2008 the accounting firm Callahan and Associates rated Desert Schools credit union #1 for auto loans in Arizona and #15 in the entire country. This is important since auto loans are one of the primary reasons people go to banks and
credit unions for money. Nobody wants to even look for a car without having the financing secured. Crafty sales people and finance managers can add thousands to the cost of a car with a loan. Even 0% APR loans can include these hidden costs. Walk in as if you’re paying cash because essentially with the dealer that’s what you’re doing. It can also serve as leverage during the negotiation. A rule of thumb is if the sales person moves from the “I’m your buddy” routine to “how can you do this to me” or to the angry sales person trying to intimidate you, then you’re doing a good job of negotiating.
Desert Schools credit union offers very flexible financing for vehicles. They have relationships with 200 dealers and companies around town. That’s great for the car buyer. The buyer isn’t at the mercy of the dealer’s loans, but the buyer doesn’t have to secure a loan until the vehicle is picked and the price is known.
Other vehicle loans are available at Desert Schools Credit Union. The credit union also offers loans for motorcycles, boats and personal water craft. This is done because they understand people have recreation needs, not just utility use for vehicles. Amazingly, they’ll loan you money to build a pool. It seems a bit extreme, but in the Arizona heat a pool is a much more standard home feature than it is in other cooler parts of the country.
In the beginning Desert Schools Credit Union had 15 members and a total of $75 in assets. Today the credit union has 350,000 members who collectively have deposited over $3 billion. Math tells us that the growth has been 40 million times – or 4,000,000,000%.
If you live in Arizona, become a member of the Desert Schools credit union. It’s FDIC insured.
